Discussion of shooting locations & preparations (Week 4)
22/4/19 (Week 4)
This week, we were divided into two teams and had to do a shooting practice based on a short Thai advertisement of Samsung Galaxy Note 4. My group was given to do on the boy's point of view. We had to decide the crew roles and actor.
Director: Jasmine
Assistant Director: Joanna
Producer: Jane
DOP: Andrea
Assistant DOP: Izac
Light: Wafir, Felicia & Catherine
Sound: Joseph
Actor: Ian
Art Director: Felicia & Catherine
Then we went around the campus to find the locations of where we will be shooting the scenes. We are provided with the storyboards and video as references.
Here is the google drive folder for the trial photos at the locations.

Day of Shooting & Progress (Week 5)
29/4/19 (Week 5)
This week, we started shooting the shots from the storyboard reference. We have to arrive at 10am to test the camera, sound and lighting equipment. We also to prepare the props and our actor with the clothing and makeup.

Fig 1.3 Testing filming equipment
We began shooting at 12 pm as we took some time to fix and test the equipment and wait for the other group's actress to come and shoot in our scenes. We had some difficulties in adjusting the appropriate lighting, camera exposure that matches in the storyboard references. And also this was our first time doing a major video production by ourselves but it was fun to having this experience. We wrapped up at around 5pm.

From the video and audio files we have from the last week's filming, we edited the video first in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Then we added the external audio files and edit it in Adobe Audition. From what we heard from the original audio in the video, the background sound is louder than the voice. So we muted the original and used the sound recording that was recorded from the microphone.
We separate each type of audio into different tracks. For the voice, I used a heavy noise reduction to make the dialogues clearer. I made the ambiance softer and adjust the loudness. I adjusted the volume so that the transition between each audio at different location sound smooth.
We also can add some action sound effects to make the video more alive. I decided to add them for the more close up shots as the sounds can be heard better. I downloaded the audio from freesound.org and in Youtube.

Colour Correction on Video Progress (Week 8)
We had no class this week as it is a public holiday but we were asked to continue to do the colour correction for this video project like how we learned in one of our exercises on colour correction. We had to refer to the storyboard and match the colour and exposure in our video.

After adjusting the exposure and colour, I added the audio clips I edited in Audition and imported them to Premiere Pro and uploaded everything in Youtube.

FEEDBACK
29/4/19 (Week 5)
General feedback: Mr Martin advised to handle the equipment we used during the filming. He told us to always check the camera exposure and focus before filming each shot. He guided us on how to use the lighting equipment when necessary.
6/5/19 (Week 6)
General feedback: Mr. Razif said that external audio files are needed to replace the original audio most of the times as it is much more clearer and easy to section out each type of audio. We need to look and match the audio and the video together so that they are synchronized.
20/5/19 (Week 8)
There was no feedback given this week as it was a public holiday.
