FINAL PROJECT: Animated Infographics

(Halloween vs Hungry Ghost Festival/ Day of the Dead)

9/1/19- 25/1/19 (Week 1- Week 3)

For this week, we discuss on a contrasting/comparing topics that are interesting and not many people have know these topics. Our group came up with a food theme of sandwich vs burritos but it was commonly known. So we came up with summer vs winter and finally to celebrations: Hungry ghost festival vs Halloween.

We listed down information about Halloween and Hungry ghost festival based on the 5W's and 1H.

After that, we created a narrative based on the information but combining it into a story.

28/1/19 (Week 4)

For this week, we were suppose to show a short animatics of the basic outline of our animated video. We had to combine the storyboard sketches and voice narration into the animatics.

We divided the work equally among ourselves:

Helen & Chelin- sketching
Feryn & Me (Andrea)- illustrating digitally
Chiquita & Crystallyn- animating the video

We decided that Crystallyn will be the main voice narrator for the video. We had to write a script for the narration part.

While we were doing the narration script, we had to change some parts of our storyboard sketches as we had extra information added and we needed more frames to match with the voice. Here is the updated version of the sketches.

And finally we compiled the sketches and voice narration together in our short animatics video.

11/2/19 (Week 6)

From the feedback we got about challenging ourselves on making more impact on our project. We made some changes to our sketches and add more details.

After finalizing our sketches, Feryn and I did the illustration for the sketches using a vector style. I did on the Hungry Ghost sketches while Feryn did on the Halloween ones.

18/2/19 (Week 7)

For this week, we focused on the composition for each panel and animate them in After Effects with the voice narration.

We also change the narrative script to make it more organize by introducing Halloween first, followed by Hungry Ghost Festival, then Day of the Dead. And after that, comparing both Halloween and Hungry Ghost to the Day of the Dead.

We separated the script into different sections.
